prevent drowning

Why are pool safety inspections so important?

Because of the drowning rate under 5 in the highest child death in Queensland. The reason that the Australian Government introduced of pool safety laws. Furthermore another layer of water safety, supervising young children, teaching them to swim at a young age.

Most noteworthy to mention since the pool fencing law been in place the drowning rate has declined to 20% fewer children drowning under 5

Do I need a Pool Safety Certificate?

Since the pool safety laws were introduced on 1 December 2010, a pool safety certificate is obligatory for all regulated pools. Regulated pools are pools on properties with a house, townhouse, unit, hotel, motel, backpacker hostel or caravan park. In detail, that means that the pools need to comply with the pool safety standard by 30 November 2015, or earlier if the property is sold or leased. However, if you manage a shared pool or provide accommodation, it is mandatory to renew your pool safety certificate every year.

Airlie Beach Swim Centre is working extremely hard every day to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone who may be in and around water. Whilst our workmanship, knowledge and experience is certainly expert, we do like to stress the importance of adhering to general safety measures around your pool. For example, we highly recommend always supervising a swimming child under 5 in an arms reach and always locking your pool gate. As parents you will know how clever your little ones can be, so please be vigilant in order to avoid the unthinkable. We offer Swimming lessons in Airlie Beach with the highest standards of the Royal Life Savings Australia.

Swimming pools should be fun. However, drowning is one of the leading causes of death in Queensland for children under the age of five years old. Supervising young children, teaching them to swim and having effective pool fencing can save lives. This is why pool safety laws were introduced.

In this section, we provide tools and tips to help you navigate through the legal requirements so that you can learn more about your responsibilities as a pool owner.
